Confederate President, Jefferson Davis

Jefferson Davis
Jefferson Davis was born in Fairview, Kentucky in 1808 less than 100 miles from Abraham Lincoln's birth site. He served as President of the Confederacy from 1861 to 1865.

At the close of the war, he was captured in Georgia and imprisoned for two years in Fortress Monroe.

He spent the final years of his life at his plantation in Mississippi. Davis died in 1889, after a short illness in New Orleans.
In Memory of Cliff Howard (left). Mr. Howard was the long-time portrayer of Jefferson Davis at the Battle of Sacramento. Mr. Howard and his wife Joan (who portrayed Varina Davis) are from Frankfort and also presented programs in the schools to American and Kentucky History Classes.

Mr. Howard will be missed. Our condolences to Mrs. Howard.
