Once again, the McLean County Fiscal Court and the City of Sacramento are pleased to co-sponsor the Battle of Sacramento. This battle commemorates the original battle of December 28, 1861. This year's reenactment will be held September 18th - 20th, 2020 on the original site near Garst's Pond where Nathan B. Forrest first engaged Crittenden's Army of the Ohio.
Your willingness to participate in the "26th Annual "Forrest's First" at the Battle of Sacramento compliments this historical moment in McLean County's civil war heritage. THANK YOU! Our goal is to remember that it is YOU, the reenactors, that make this event what it is and we want to make sure that you will make it a point to include Sacramento on your 2020 reenactment schedule. It is the intent of the Committee and the residents of McLean County to make each reenactor feel welcome to contact any of the committee members if you have any questions or need further assistance.
Remember to also check us out on Facebook. We have lots of photos posted there as well as information about the event.
PLEASE NOTE: The advance registration fee is as follows: for all military and civilian reenactors who submit their registration form with payment postmarked by:
(To Be Determined)
All reenactors, including those who pre-registered, must check in upon arrival. Please remember that the availability of all amenities such as food, hay, straw, firewood and gunpowder is based upon pre-registering by (TBD).
The field commanders will issue gunpowder to the company commanders on Saturday morning during Officers Call for those who pre-registered. If you plan to arrive before Friday, September 18th, please contact the Battle Committee in advance, so that we can make arrangements to assist you.
Before each reenactment, we dedicate the battlefield in honor of each person who wore the uniform of self-sacrifice. After the sound of thundering hooves has been silenced and the smell of gunpowder still lingers over the crowd, we pause to better understand the truth in "United We Stand, Divided We Fall."
We sincerely hope that you will come and join us this year to make this a memorable weekend for the reenactors and the spectators who come to watch. You are truly our guest and we appreciate the time you take out of your busy schedule to share this time of remembering with us.
Sincerely,
The Battle of Sacramento Committee
